ESCALATE- The start-up Workshop
E-Cell conducted ESCALATE- The Start-up Workshop on 15th November, 2013 from 06:00 pm to 09:00 pm at XLRI.
It was an exclusive workshop on “How to start your own Business/Company”. The workshop aimed at enabling participants with an entrepreneurial spirit or innovative ideas to learn about the various aspects of creating a successful business.
The workshop was oriented at giving a holistic view of the problems one is bound to face while starting up a business and the ways to overcome them. The contents of the workshop covered various aspects of business like start-up funding and other finance related issues, how to market the services/products in the initial stages of the business, the legal and IP-related issues, and above all the motivational aspects.
The workshop consisted of three sessions that were conducted by the esteemed professors of XLRI. This was an enriching learning session for the participants to gain practical insights into business from the seasoned faculty. The topics that were covered during the workshop are as follows:-
Introduction to Entrepreneurship
• Insights into entrepreneurship, challenges in business
• Skill-set, motivational aspects and key requirements for starting up
• Validating your idea and identifying a problem
• How to setup your start-up
• Type of legal structures of a company, Copyright, Trademarks, and Patent
Finance
• Forming and effectively managing various entities including Corporations, Limited Partnerships, and Limited Liability Companies
• Financing the business with debt and/or equity
• Finding the most appropriate investors and lenders
• Development of Exit Strategy
Marketing
• Marketing your idea in the initial stages (Environmental and STP Analysis basics)
• Use winning strategies to sell your products and services online and offline
• Find untapped online resources for market research, low cost advertising and promotion
• Profitably market your products, services, and business on a limited budget
E-Cell plans to organize multiple ESCALATE workshops in the coming academic year based on the needs and feedback of the students.
